Kosovo Secures €5 Million Grant for Transmission Network Upgrade

Kosovo’s government has finalized the agreement to secure a €5 million grant for the development of its energy transmission network. The initiative, announced on April 20, 2026, involves a partnership between the Republic of Kosovo, represented by the Ministry of Finance and KOSTT, and KfW. Finance Minister Hekuran Murati confirmed the approval of the Grant Agreement, a key component of the Energy Sector (Phase VII) project.

The funds will be directed towards bolstering the capacity of Kosovo’s transmission network. “Within the framework of financial cooperation with bilateral donors and international financial institutions, we will negotiate the grant agreement for the energy sector development project, phase seven, the improvement of the transmission network,” stated Murati. The project’s objective is to enhance the reliability and efficiency of Kosovo’s energy infrastructure.

The grant represents a significant investment in the sector, aligning with ongoing efforts to modernize and expand energy capabilities within the country. Details regarding specific upgrades and timelines will be released following the formal signing of the agreement.
