Minimum Wage Increases to 68,797 Denar in April 2026
The minimum union wage in North Macedonia will rise to 68,797 denars in April 2026, representing an increase of 979 denars from the March figure of 67,818 denars. This adjustment reflects a total increase of 3,305 denars for the period from January to April 2026. The current minimum wage, harmonized with 1,667 denars, stands at 26,046 denars.
When factoring in the cost of a 60 square meter apartment rental, which totals 84,172 denars, the combined expense surpasses the minimum wage. The Union of Trade Unions of Macedonia has previously submitted requests for a minimum wage increase on January 28th and March 14th. However, these requests were not accepted by the Government and employer groups.
Currently, the cost of food and beverages is recorded at 26,085 denars. This indicates that the existing minimum wage of 26,046 denars is insufficient to cover basic living expenses. The figures are all expressed in denars, highlighting the importance of this adjustment to the national minimum wage.
