Residents Plan Protest Over Border Crossing and Road Issues

Residents of Pejë, Plavë, and Guci have announced a protest scheduled for April 25th, focusing on demands for the opening of the Çakor border crossing and the functionalization of local roads. The protest, organized under the slogan “Enough with Isolation,” is anticipated to commence at 12:00 in the Kotlovi – Kuçishtë zone, located on Çakor Mountain. The initiative seeks to address concerns regarding the potential economic and social benefits of opening the Çakor border crossing for citizens of both Kosovo and Montenegro.

Organizers, including Muhamet Nikqi, Mehdi Berisha, and Nedzat Cecunjanin, expect significant participation from local residents, civil society representatives, and activists from both sides of the border. Muhamet Nikqi, one of the protest’s initiators, confirmed that preparations are already underway. The goal is to highlight the current isolation experienced by residents in the Guci region and advocate for improved connectivity and access across the border.

The event is being reported by Telegrafi. The protest aims to raise awareness of these issues and pressure relevant authorities to address the long-standing concerns of the affected communities.
