Inspections are carried out at the cemeteries of heroes in Shkoder, with a ceremony scheduled for Hero Day.

Shtimes Mayor and Monument Agency Director Review Cemetery Projects

Shtimes Mayor Qemajl Aliu met with Director Imer Hakaj of the Agency for the Management of Monuments and Memorial Complexes to assess ongoing projects and explore new initiatives concerning significant historical and national landmarks. The meeting followed an on-site inspection of work being carried out on the regulation of the cemeteries of heroes within the municipality. The project, focused on improving the condition and presentation of these veteran cemeteries, is slated for completion and dedication during Hero Day for the Municipality of Shtimes.

This initial phase represents a key effort to preserve and honor local heroes. Hakaj and his team, alongside collaborators, observed the progress firsthand. Plans are now underway for a second phase, which will encompass the regulation of the cemeteries of veterans.

This subsequent project is anticipated to commence within the coming months. “Our collective memory spaces will always be at the center of our governance,” stated Mayor Aliu following the discussions. The initiative reflects a continued commitment to safeguarding and maintaining Shtimes’s historical legacy.

The work carried out on the cemeteries is a vital step in this ongoing effort.
