Kurti States VV Candidates Lead in Presidential Vote Share
Pristina – Leader of Vetëvendosje (VV), Albin Kurti, addressed the media today regarding offers extended to the People’s Democratic Party (PDK) and the League of Socialists of Kosovo (LDK) aimed at resolving the ongoing presidential impasse, as reported by Gazeta Express on April 21, 2026. Kurti outlined significant concessions made within the proposed offers to both parties. He indicated that within VV, four candidates have garnered more votes than current PDK presidential candidate, Hamza Taipi.
Furthermore, ten candidates possess more votes than current LDK candidate, Gjeril Abdixhiku. The VV secured 51.1% of the popular vote in the recent elections. Kurti emphasized the need to align with this result moving forward.
A proposed arrangement involved a swap with Haxhiu as Speaker of Parliament and Vlora Citaku, with PDK potentially affording Hamza Taipi the role of Prime Minister. Following the announcement, Kurti questioned PDK and LDK leadership regarding their rejection of the offered terms, specifically referencing a proposal from Balli Gazeta Express. He reiterated that VV’s electoral success represents a substantial mandate.
Kurti’s statements highlight the considerable vote share held by VV candidates, with more than ten candidates having more votes than Abdixhiku.
