Faculty of Philosophy at St. Cyril and Methodius University Faces Scrutiny Following Registration Irregularities

A recent inspection by the State Inspection for Education has revealed significant discrepancies in the student registration process at the Faculty of Philosophy of St. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje.

The investigation has led to the annulment of the status of 11 students pursuing studies in the second and third cycles. The issue centers around seven master’s level students and four doctoral level students who were admitted to their respective programs following the completion of three-year professional studies. Current Higher Education Law stipulates that continuation into master’s and doctoral programs requires a minimum of 240 credits earned during the first academic cycle.

Investigators determined that these students met the credit requirement through a combination of 180 credits, falling short of the legally mandated minimum. As a consequence, the state has suspended their studies pending further review. The State Inspection for Education’s findings highlight the importance of adhering to established regulations within the higher education system.

The university is currently reviewing the situation and working with the State to ensure compliance with all applicable laws regarding student admissions.
