Kosovo Consulate Honors Congressman Engel in New York Ceremony

The General Consulate of the Republic of Kosovo in New York, alongside activist Harry Bajraktari, hosted a commemorative evening recognizing the life and legacy of American Congressman Eliot Engel. The event, held in New York, brought together Engel’s family, former colleagues, and supporters to honor his contributions. Ambassador Blerim Reka and Bajraktari initiated the ceremony, welcoming attendees including Engel’s wife, Pat, and daughter, Julia, alongside key officials such as former Chief of Staff John Calvelli.

A minute of silence was observed to mark the passing of Engel and acknowledge his sustained efforts on behalf of Kosovo. Throughout the evening, attendees offered remarks reflecting on Engel’s longstanding support for the Albanian and Kosovar communities within the United States Congress. Ambassador Reka emphasized Engel’s pivotal role as a significant American advocate for Kosovo, detailing over three decades of dedicated engagement.

The consulate’s initiative served as a tribute to Engel’s influence and his commitment to furthering Kosovo’s interests.
