Former Barcelona Defender Sergino Dest Expresses Interest in Return

Sergino Dest, the former Barcelona defender, has indicated a desire for a potential return to the Spanish club, following his departure in 2023. The United States international spent two seasons with FC Barcelona before a loan period with AC Milan and ultimately a permanent transfer to PSV Eindhoven. Dest reflected on his time at “Camp Nou,” where he amassed 72 appearances, contributing three goals and four assists during his initial transfer from Ajax for a fee of €21 million.

He stated that some of his former teammates struggled to comprehend Barcelona’s decision to release him from his contract. Speaking to NPO Radio, via Sport, Dest outlined his continued interest. “Signing for Barcelona would still be a dream,” he said.

“Hansi Flick’s playing style is exceptional, and I believe I would adapt very well.” He acknowledged that his opportunities diminished under manager Xavi Hernandez, leading to a loan move. Despite this, Dest remains open to the possibility of rejoining the Catalan giants, suggesting a potential future within the club’s ranks.
