Kosovo MP Condemns Abusive Language Directed at Speaker
Prishtina – Democratic Party of Kosovo (DPK) Member of Parliament Ganimete Musliu has strongly criticized the language used by Vetëvendosje MP Fatos Geci towards Speaker Vlora Çitaku. The controversy arose following Geci’s use of what observers described as abusive and sexist language directed at Çitaku during a parliamentary session the previous day. The exchange prompted significant reaction within public opinion.
Musliu issued a formal condemnation of the language, asserting that such insults and threats should not be accepted as commonplace within Kosovar society. “As many times as I have been offended, prejudiced, bullied, and threatened, I have never been victimized and have not sought support or protection from anyone,” Musliu stated in a public statement. “However, I reacted strongly and publicly against the tendency for insults, abuse, and threats to become normalized.”
Musliu clarified that her response was not predicated on any perceived need for Speaker Çitaku to receive protection.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions within the Kosovo Parliament and raises concerns about the use of rhetoric during political discourse. Fatos Geci’s comments remain under scrutiny, with calls for accountability and a commitment to respectful dialogue.
