Fuel Injector ‘Click’ Explained: A Decades-Old Safety Mechanism
The distinctive “click” sound heard during refueling of many vehicles is a result of a longstanding safety feature integrated into fuel injectors. This mechanism prevents overfilling and potential damage to the fuel system. At the upper portion of the fuel injector, a small, channeled hole plays a critical role.
This hole is part of a mechanical system designed to automatically halt the fuel filling process once the fuel tank reaches capacity.
