Former Football Federation Chairman Subject to Investigation for Alleged Financial Misconduct
The Public Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje has initiated an investigation procedure against the former chairman of the Football Federation of North Macedonia, stemming from suspicions of abuse of power in office. The investigation centers on activity during the November-December 2024 period while he served as chairman of the FFM. The probe alleges that the former chairman improperly benefited from an illegal financial gain of approximately 660,000 euros, a sum significantly exceeding typical allocations.
Authorities suspect the actions involved channeling funds intended for UEFA-backed revitalization of sports fields and infrastructure through the FFM, specifically within the framework of the “HatTrick VI” program. The investigation suggests the former chairman initiated a process to utilize funds designated for the FFM as a member of UEFA. The purpose was to settle a transaction with a Skopje-based company.
The Public Basic Prosecutor’s Office has indicated that these findings warrant further scrutiny and a formal investigation into the allegations. The investigation is ongoing, and the former chairman remains a suspect in the case.
