Former Football Federation President Muhamed Sefedin Ordered into Detention
The Basic Criminal Court in Skopje has ordered a 30-day detention for Muhamed Sefedin, the former president of the Football Federation of North Macedonia (FFM), following a proposal from the Public Basic Prosecution. The detention order stems from a reasonable suspicion of the criminal offense of “misuse of official duties.”
The court cited concerns regarding the risk of Sefedin’s escape and the potential for interference with witnesses and evidence during the ongoing legal proceedings. Sefedin was arrested yesterday by police in coordination with the Public Basic Prosecution in Skopje.
The investigation centers around allegations of illicit wealth accumulation. The prosecution suspects Sefedin facilitated the acquisition of approximately 660,000 euros’ worth of equipment for a Skopje-based company between November and December 2024. The court’s decision reflects the seriousness of the charges and the need to ensure Sefedin’s presence throughout the judicial process.
Further investigation is ongoing as the prosecution seeks to establish a clear case against the former leader of the FFM.
