Public Administration in Kosovo Possesses Capabilities, Requires Focused Development
Kosovo’s public administration demonstrates inherent capabilities, but necessitates targeted improvements, according to Edmir Sejdiu, U.D. Director of the Department for Public Administration Reform at the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Government (MAPD). Speaking on the “Tempus” program on T7 on April 24, 2026, Sejdiu highlighted the administration’s established processes.
Sejdiu noted that the public administration has successfully developed operational procedures, particularly during periods of significant national crisis. “The public administration possesses capabilities due to Kosovo’s historical development of numerous processes through its administration during times of crisis,” he stated. However, he emphasized the need to refine these existing structures.
A key focus, according to Sejdiu, is the integration of younger professionals to specialize within the public administration. This shift would bolster the sector’s responsiveness and adaptability. Furthermore, he confirmed that accounting mechanisms are currently fully operational.
The discussion centered on the ongoing efforts to modernize and strengthen the overall public administration, recognizing its vital role within Kosovo. The goal remains to build upon existing capabilities and ensure efficient service delivery.
