Kosovo Outperforms Western Balkan Neighbors in Public Administration Reform, Says Official
Prishtina, Kosovo – Edmir Sejdiu, Director of the Department for Public Administration Reform at the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Government (MAPD), has asserted that Kosovo demonstrates superior levels of transparency and accountability compared to Montenegro and North Macedonia. Speaking on the “Tempus” program, Sejdiu highlighted recent assessments indicating progress within the Kosovar public administration. In a 2024 evaluation, Kosovo achieved the highest performance across five of six key reform areas within the Western Balkans, surpassing Montenegro and North Macedonia.
Sejdiu emphasized that Kosovo’s advancements represent a significant step forward in bolstering governance. “In the latest assessment in 2024, Kosovo achieves the best performance in five out of six reform areas of the public administration in all countries of the Western Balkans,” Sejdiu stated. While specific data from 2021 was referenced, the core message remains Kosovo’s improved standing in terms of transparency and accountability relative to its regional counterparts, including Montenegro and North Macedonia.
