Serbian Deputies Exit Kosovo Parliament Following Banjska Verdict

Pristina, Kosovo – Deputies from the Serbian List exited a parliamentary session following the announcement of sentences related to the terrorist attack in Banjska. Speaker Albulena Haxhiu formally welcomed the verdicts delivered today by the Basic Court in Pristina. The court convicted individuals involved in the September 2023 attack, which resulted in the death of 50-year-old police officer Afrim Bunjaku and injuries to officer Alban Rashiti.

Following a two-year, seven-month investigation, Vladimir Tolliq and Blagoje Spasojevic were each sentenced to life imprisonment. Dushan Maksimovic received a 30-year sentence. The convictions stem from the attack in Banjska, a region within Kosovo.

The Basic Court’s judgment represents a significant step in the legal proceedings following the incident. The session was marked by the immediate departure of the Serbian List deputies, a reaction to Haxhiu’s announcement of the verdicts concerning the terrorist attack. Further details regarding the investigation and the full scope of the sentences will be released by the Kosovo authorities.
