Grief Persists as National Day of Missing Persons is Marked

Gjakovë, Kosovo – On the National Day of Missing Persons, Ferdonije, the mother of several missing individuals, reflected on her ongoing grief. Speaking at the Çerkezi family museum, she addressed the son and wife of one of the missing, alongside the “Seven O’Clock” program. The discovery of the remains of two sons has offered a degree of closure, but the whereabouts of the remaining two sons and Ferdonije’s husband remain unknown.

“Mornings are bitter,” Ferdonije stated, describing her daily experience. “I wake up like a person who wakes up alone.” Her wife, Elhama, provides a measure of comfort, though Ferdonije acknowledges the persistent feeling of boredom. Speaking about her continued efforts, Ferdonije explained she has never ceased her search for her loved ones.

She notes that physical exhaustion now presents the primary obstacle to her ongoing investigation. The National Day of Missing Persons serves as a reminder of the unresolved cases and the enduring pain felt by families across the region. The mother, Ferdonije, continues to grapple with the profound loss and the uncertainty surrounding her family’s fate.
