Weitz: The RMV government has not closed 8 out of 10 points on the reform agenda, while June is approaching.

Weitz Expresses Concerns Over Macedonia Reform Progress Ahead of June Deadline

Brussels – Parliamentarian Thomas Weitz, reporting for the European Parliament on Macedonia, has voiced concerns regarding the progress of reform efforts within the Macedonian government. In an interview with TV Channel 5, published by Portalb.mk, Weitz stated that the Skopje government has yet to finalize eight out of ten key points outlined in its reform agenda. According to Weitz, June is a critical timeframe for achieving these remaining objectives.

He noted that while some advancements have been observed over the past seven weeks, only two of the ten points have been fully addressed. The discussions center around a €49 million funding allocation. Specifically, Weitz highlighted ongoing issues including the determination of salaries for prosecutors and judges, alongside other outstanding reforms.

He emphasized the need for the government to meet these targets before the approaching June deadline. The comments come as the European Union continues to monitor Macedonia’s progress toward meeting the criteria for membership. Weitz’s assessment reflects a continued focus on the government’s commitment to completing the necessary reforms.
