EU funds in North Macedonia, Kostadinova admits to receiving a reward for illegal influence.

Former Ministry Official Admits to Bribery in IPARD Funds Case

In ongoing proceedings concerning the misuse of funds from the IPARD program, Jasmina Kostadinova has admitted to accepting a bribe in exchange for illicit influence during her time at the Ministry of Agriculture. The admission was made during a court hearing and a ruling regarding Kostadinova’s case is scheduled for May 5th. The investigation, which continues for other defendants, centers around allegations of corruption within the Support Agency for Agriculture.

Ilija Stoilev, the former director of the agency, and Ljubco Georgievski’s former deputy and minister, Xhevdet Nasufi, are also implicated. Nasufi’s involvement extends to his role as head of a company connected to the scheme. Seven other individuals are currently under investigation.

The prosecution alleges that a senior official at the Agency was promised a €50,000 gift, while three other individuals received €5,000 payments intended to facilitate the exploitation of their influence related to the IPARD funds. The case remains under active investigation with further court proceedings planned. Authorities are focused on determining the full extent of the alleged corruption and identifying all parties involved in the misuse of public funds.
