Social Democratic Leader Criticizes Opposition’s Handling of Presidential Election Process
Prishtina – Social Democratic Party leader Dardan Molliqaj has strongly criticized the opposition parties’ approach to the recent presidential election process, arguing their actions primarily benefited Prime Minister Albin Kurti. Speaking on the “Përballje Podcast,” Molliqaj questioned the timing and rationale behind negotiations with Kurti, particularly given the opposition’s previous accusations of an authoritarian style. “How did they justify negotiating so soon after the elections?” Molliqaj stated, according to a report by Telegrafi.
“Why do they think Albini will change his approach? If they characterize the power as authoritarian, why engage in negotiations?”
Molliqaj asserted that the opposition made a strategic error by initiating discussions about the presidency prematurely, instead of immediately rejecting the process. He maintained that Kurti’s intention was to create a situation where he could exert greater control.
The Social Democratic leader’s comments reflect a significant divergence in opinion regarding the handling of the election and the subsequent steps taken by the government. Molliqaj specifically addressed how the opposition chose to negotiate with Kurti.
