Qalaj Cites ‘Misfortune’ of Upcoming Elections
Former PDK Member of Parliament, Rashit Qalaj, has expressed concerns regarding the impending elections, characterizing the return to the polls as a “misfortune.” Speaking on Klan Kosova’s “DPT at Fidani” program on May 4, 2026, Qalaj voiced his criticism of the current government’s actions. Qalaj argued that a primary focus of the government has been the degradation of Kosovo’s institutions. He specifically highlighted the targeting of security institutions, as well as broader damage inflicted upon all state-run organizations.
“It is a misfortune that the country is going to elections,” Qalaj stated. “However, not only the instrumentalization of the country’s institutions, security institutions, but all institutions of this country, the damage to all of them, has been one of the priorities of this government, which is bad.”
The comments come as Kosovo prepares for a new electoral cycle. Qalaj’s assessment reflects a significant critique of the government’s approach and its impact on the country’s stability and governance.
