Trump refuses to say if the ceasefire is still in effect.

Trump Remains Silent on Truce Status Following Strait of Hormuz Exchange

Washington – President Donald Trump declined to comment on the ongoing status of a brief ceasefire between the United States and Iran following a recent exchange of fire in the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt yesterday, Trump refused to say whether the truce remains in effect. When pressed about the possibility of renewed attacks, Trump responded with, “No, I can’t say.” The President then argued that providing a direct answer would be interpreted as a lack of strategic acumen.

“You wouldn’t – if I answered that question, you’d say this man isn’t smart enough to be president,” Trump stated, according to a report by Telegrafi. Adding to the uncertainty, Iranian negotiator Ali Akbar Velayati issued a warning, stating, “Nor have we even begun.” Velayati simultaneously accused the U.S. of violating the terms of the established truce.

Earlier, in an interview with Fox News, Trump had issued a direct warning to Iranian forces, stating they would “withdraw from the battlefield” should they attempt to escalate the situation. The exchange in the Strait of Hormuz underscores continued tensions between the two nations.

  1. “It’s frustrating that he won’t provide clarity on such a critical situation.”
