Saveoski: Transparency in judicial decisions is the key to public trust.

Public Prosecutor Highlights Need for Greater Transparency in North Macedonia

Skopje, North Macedonia – Public Prosecutor of the Republic of North Macedonia, Nenad Saveski, stressed the importance of institutional openness during a speech at the conference “Transparency as a Key Factor in the Work of the Public Prosecutor’s Council of the Republic of North Macedonia,” organized by the “Support for the Rule of Law Project by the EU.”

According to a statement released by the PTHP, Saveski emphasized the need for public understanding and assessment of decisions made by the council. He noted that previous reports, both domestically and internationally, had yielded largely negative evaluations regarding the Public Prosecutor’s Council’s transparency. “It is a fact that previous reports have not given very positive assessments of institutional transparency,” Saveski stated.

“It is necessary for there to be a better explanation of decisions and procedures, which will create a feeling among public prosecutors and the wider public that the situation is being handled with appropriate scrutiny.”

The conference focused on bolstering transparency within the Public Prosecutor’s Council, aiming to foster greater accountability and public confidence. The core issue addressed was the need for improved communication regarding the council’s decisions and operational processes. The goal is to ensure greater public awareness and understanding of the institution’s work.
