Venmo Implementing Privacy-Focused App Redesign
Venmo is undertaking a significant redesign of its mobile app, introducing several new features centered around user privacy controls. The changes, announced by the company, address concerns regarding the default visibility settings previously utilized within the app. Following an integration process, users will now have granular control over the visibility of their transactions.
Options will include selecting to share posts with “Everyone,” “Friends,” or restricting visibility solely to the user themselves. This shift represents a fundamental change from the prior system, where posts were automatically shared with a broader audience. The company acknowledges that many users were unaware of the default setting, as reported by Telegrafi.
Users will retain the ability to modify these settings at any time through the app’s settings menu. Alongside the privacy adjustments, Venmo is also updating the money-sending flow. The redesign will clearly indicate whether a transaction is visible only to the sender and recipient, to the sender’s friends, or to everyone.
“We are committed to providing our users with greater control over their data and financial information,” stated a representative from Venmo. The redesign aims to enhance user trust and security within the popular mobile payment app.
