Mickoski Emphasizes Difficult Path to EU Membership
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski addressed the “North Macedonia 2025” summit today, outlining the government’s strategy for European integration. Speaking at the event, themed “After 2025: Acceleration of growth. Stimulation of leadership,” Mickoski responded to questions regarding the challenges of pursuing accession to the European Union.
He stated that the government assesses a direct route to the EU does not exist, or if it does, it presents significant and often overwhelming obstacles. Consequently, the government has opted for the most demanding path, aiming to secure the country’s entry into the Union “with quality and with realization.”
Responding to concerns about political influence within the integration process, Mickoski acknowledged that differing political ideologies can shape a government’s approach. He noted that “depending on what political ideology you have, I suppose that every government has its own matrix of approach and achievement of this goal, of this goal which which it seeks to achieve.”
Mickoski reiterated the government’s commitment to pursuing a strategy designed to benefit the country.
