Skopje-Blace Highway Project Remains in Assessment Phase
The Skopje-Blace highway project remains inactive, with no construction work currently underway, according to officials. As of May 12, 2026, the highway continues to be in the condition established by the previous administration. Koce Trajanovski, Head of the State Road Public Enterprise, confirmed that the project is presently undergoing an assessment phase.
He stated that work is anticipated to commence shortly, with the intention of completing the highway as originally designed. Despite ongoing assessments, a local construction firm, “GRANIT,” is expected to be selected as the contractor. Trajanovski indicated that the project is being financed through a loan from the European Bank for Development, following several analyses conducted.
While a precise timeline remains unconfirmed, the assessment phase is expected to be the immediate focus before commencing construction on the highway connecting Skopje and Blace. The project’s future remains dependent on the successful completion of this evaluation.
