Investigation into Negotin Thermal Power Plant Oil Purchases Concludes Without Prosecution

The Republican Public Prosecution Office of North Macedonia has announced the closure of its investigation into the disputed oil purchases for the Negotin Thermal Power Plant, a case involving several individuals including former EMV General Manager Vasko Kovaçevski and Ratko Kapushevski. Prosecutor Nenad Saveski stated that the Republican Public Prosecution Office not was consulted before the decision to close the case. Lead investigator Katerina Kolarevic revealed at a press conference that she personally made the determination to discontinue the inquiry due to a lack of sufficient evidence.

The investigation centered around allegations concerning the supply of coal to the TEC Negotin facility and implicated thirteen other individuals. Kolarevic explained that the prosecution found no evidence of criminal activity related to the supply. Consequently, the investigation was terminated.

“I closed the case as a responsible prosecutor for the investigation,” she stated. The decision reflects a lack of demonstrable proof supporting claims made regarding the transactions. The closure marks the end of the inquiry led by Kolarevic’s team.

Further updates will be provided as they become available.
