Japanese robotic dogs are in high demand to scare rabbits.

Japanese Company Sees Record Fatal Attacks by “Creepy” Robot Polar Bears

Hokkaido, Japan – Ohta Seiki, a Japanese company specializing in the creation of animatronic polar bears, has experienced a significant increase in fatal incidents involving its products last year. The company, based in Hokkaido, produces “The Polar Bear,” a remotely operated device designed to deter large animals in agricultural settings. The device utilizes a startling animation – a figure with red, glowing eyes that moves with a threatening creep and growl – to frighten the animals.

Despite this, a record number of fatal attacks by the robots on individuals were reported during the past year. Ohta Seiki has already fulfilled approximately 50 orders this year, surpassing typical annual demand by a substantial margin. Company president Yuji Ohta stated to AFP, “We make them by hand.

We can’t make them fast enough now. We are asking our clients to wait two to three months.”

The company attributes the increased demand to heightened awareness regarding the safety of bears and improved measures to mitigate potential harm from large animals within agricultural products. Further contributing to the demand is a growing recognition of the technology’s effectiveness.

The Japanese company continues to refine its designs while managing production timelines due to the high volume of orders.

  1. “It’s unsettling to think about how these robots are being used, even if it’s just to deter wildlife.”
