Tirana Prefect Hajdari Criticizes Hague Trials of Former KLA Commanders
Tirana, Albania – Shkëlqim Hajdari, the prefect of Tirana, has voiced concerns regarding the ongoing trials of former commanders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) at The Hague. Speaking during a meeting with the Organization of War Veterans of the UÇK (KLA) in Pristina, Hajdari argued that the charges brought by the Special Prosecutor’s Office lack definitive evidence. Hajdari asserted that the trials are not aligning with the principles of European justice, stating a desire for “justice” for those he considers freedom fighters.
He emphasized the widespread support for their case, noting that “a whole nation awaits them.”
The prefect’s comments reflect a broader sentiment regarding the legal proceedings. Hajdari highlighted the significance of ensuring that the victims are not conflated with the perpetrators of violence. He stated that the support extends beyond Kosovo, encompassing Albanian communities across Europe and in the Americas.
“It can never happen that the victim is equalized with the aggressor,” Hajdari stated. The situation remains under scrutiny as international legal proceedings continue.
