Kosovo Negotiator Links Dialogue Progress to Banjska Accountability

PRISTINA, Kosovo – Kosovo’s chief negotiator, Agron Bajrami, stated that further progress in the ongoing technical dialogue with Serbia hinges on acknowledging and addressing the events surrounding the September 24, 2023, attack in Banjska. During a meeting with the Special Envoy of the European Union for the normalization process, Peter Sorensen, Bajrami emphasized the critical need for accountability. According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bajrami asserted that continued progress within the dialogue depends on Serbia’s recognition of the Banjska incident.

Specifically, he highlighted the requirement for the handover of the leader of the attack, Milan Radojić, and his associated group, to face legal proceedings within Kosovo. Bajrami reiterated Kosovo’s commitment to concluding the dialogue process expeditiously. The Ministry’s announcement indicated that the situation surrounding the Banjska attack remains a central point of contention, directly impacting the potential for further advancements in the normalization process.
