Serbian Parliament Member Proposes Resolution Condemning 1998-1999 Crimes in Kosovo
Belgrade – Shaip Kamberi, a Serbian deputy in the Parliament, alongside representatives from the SDA Sandžak group, Ahmedin Shkrijel and Minela Kalender, have introduced a resolution aimed at formally condemning the events that occurred in Kosovo between 1998 and 1999. The proposal centers on acknowledging and confronting the historical record. Kamberi explained that the resolution serves as a demand to recognize established facts, aligning with the findings of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia.
The document specifically addresses what the deputies characterize as systematic crimes perpetrated during the period. These include documented instances of murders, forced deportations, ethnic cleansing, and violence directed against the Albanian population. The resolution references specific locations where these actions occurred, including massacres at Rekak, Mejë, Krushë e Madhe, Krushë e Vogël, Suharekë, Izbicë, and Podujevë, alongside acknowledging the presence of numerous cemeteries.
