Kurti-Mickoski Meeting: Bimo: This does not help the Albanian factor.

Former Ambassador Warns Kurti’s Actions Could Exacerbate North Macedonia Tensions

Former Kosovo Ambassador Roland Bimo has cautioned against Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s recent strategic positioning near North Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, arguing it is unlikely to mitigate ethnic tensions within the country. Speaking on Euronews Albania’s “Now” program, bimo voiced concerns regarding the potential repercussions for the Albanian community in North Macedonia. Bimo emphasized the delicate nature of ethnic balances in North Macedonia, describing them as “very fragile.” He noted a significant apprehension amongst minority groups who perceive external support and believe they represent the true minority population within the state.

“These types of maneuvers do more harm than good and we will feel the negative consequences,” bimo stated. He suggested that Kurti’s actions could deepen existing divisions and fuel anxieties surrounding minority representation. The former ambassador highlighted the perception of external backing for minority groups in North Macedonia, contributing to heightened sensitivities.

He believes that such actions risk further destabilizing the situation and negatively impacting the Albanian factor within the north Macedonian state.
