Interior Minister Panče Toshkovski has affirmed that the “Safe City” SMS notifications regarding traffic violations will remain exclusively in Macedonian. He clarified that translating these messages into Albanian would not be a problem, and additional notifications would be sent if necessary. Toshkovski emphasized the practical considerations behind this decision.
The core purpose of the messages is informative, and they are delivered using the Latin script. This choice is driven by the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the communication channels utilized by the Ministry through Telekom operators. Utilizing a single message in Latin script proves more economical than employing multiple messages.
Toshkovski explained that if the message were to be presented in Cyrillic script, it would necessitate at least two or three separate transmissions. This approach would fundamentally alter the structure of the notifications. Furthermore, if the messages required translation into Albanian, English, or any other language, the volume of messages would dramatically increase, potentially reaching fifty.
Ultimately, the current system ensures a streamlined delivery of vital information through concise messages.
