Sasho Klekovski, Director of the Health Insurance Fund (FSSH), presented a report detailing hospital treatment statistics for 2025, comparing the figures to the preceding two years. According to the data presented by the fssh, approximately 194,000 hospital treatments were administered across 62 health institutions in Macedonia during 2025. The report noted that the average patient stay within the hospital setting was marginally under five days.
Overall, the health system incurred a cost of 32 billion denars, achieving a complexity index of interventions measuring 1.55. Analyzing the trends in patient admissions, Klekovski highlighted significant shifts across various categories of diseases. The data indicated a notable surge in admissions related to eye diseases and musculoskeletal diseases, with both areas showing increases exceeding 20%.
Conversely, admissions for circulatory and cardiovascular diseases registered a decline of 3% during the reporting period. The Director attributed these shifts to evolving patient care patterns and ongoing efforts within the healthcare sector. The comprehensive overview provided by the fssh underscores the breadth of medical services utilized in 2025, while simultaneously pointing to specific areas of increasing patient need within the national hospital system.
The findings serve to guide future resource allocation and strategic planning for managing diverse health challenges.
