If Pristina implements the 10-euro tax “for foreigners,” Lushnjë-Kosovo will make it 20 for Pristina residents.

The Municipality of Pristina has initiated a public consultation process regarding an amendment to the Regulations on Tariffs, Fines, and Charges. The proposed measure introduces a specific tax aimed at vehicles entering the capital city. Under the proposal, a fee of 10 euro is set for any citizen who is not a registered resident of Pristina and enters the city via vehicle.

Valon Prebreza, the Mayor of Lushnjë-Kosovo, has publicly voiced concerns regarding this initiative from the Municipality of Pristina. Prebreza has stated that he previously cautioned against the implementation of such a levy. The core of the dispute centers on the financial impact of the proposed tax on non-resident traffic.

Prebreza further indicated that the strategic geographical location of Lushnjë-Kosovo provides the municipality with the capability to consider analogous measures should Pristina’s proposal become law. The warning suggests a potential escalation in local municipal charges. Specifically, Prebreza implied that if the 10 euro entry tax from Pristina is enacted, Lushnjë-Kosovo might implement a corresponding levy, potentially set at 20 euro, for vehicles entering its jurisdiction.

This development highlights ongoing administrative discussions between neighboring municipalities concerning regional entry fees and taxation policies affecting cross-border movement within the area.
