Candidate Lumir Abdixhiku argued that the expenditures made on energy purchases over the past five years could have funded significant national development projects. Speaking during the Parliamentary Elections, Abdixhiku asserted that these funds represent a substantial missed investment opportunity for Kosovo’s infrastructure. According to his statements, the allocated capital could have supported the construction of several major facilities, including a new gas-powered thermal power plant and the development of the outer ring of Pristina.
He provided specific financial estimates for various cultural and educational initiatives. Abdixhiku noted that the entire education system in Pristina could have been established with 200 million euros. Furthermore, he calculated that the construction of a new Sports Center alongside a National Stadium with 30,000 seats would cost approximately 60 million euros.
In a broader scope, the candidate detailed a potential combined project encompassing the Museum of Peace and Resistance, the Opera and Ballet Theater, and a new National Theater. He estimated the cost for this cultural complex to be around 1 billion euros. The statement, delivered to Rubicon of Kosovo Clan, framed the energy spending as a diversion of resources that prevented the realization of these large-scale public works.
Abdixhiku’s remarks focused on quantifying the potential economic and cultural benefits that could have been achieved with alternative financial allocations.
