Artin Islami and Feuzi Xhaferi have successfully cleared the parliamentary commission’s vetting process for potential members of the Judicial Council, according to reports. The confirmation for the two individuals passed with unanimous support, recording seven votes in favor, zero votes against, and no abstentions. The proposal for the candidates was advanced by VLEN deputy Bekim Qoku.
During his presentation, Qoku stated that the professional backgrounds and extensive experience of the two nominees are expected to enhance public confidence in the integrity of the nation’s judicial system. These two individuals were selected from a larger pool of seven candidates who were initially put forward for consideration. Conversely, five other nominees—Sabendin Dauti, Shpresa Dauti, Elvir Iseini, Fatmir Emrullai, and Fadil Xhelili—did not pass the commission’s screening.
While the commission has given its preliminary approval, the final selection of the Judicial Council members remains subject to confirmation by a full plenary session vote. This represents the third attempt to elect members to the crucial body overseeing the judiciary.
