The discontinuation of the BMW Z4, coupled with the lack of a confirmed replacement, has sadly resulted in another sports car exiting the market, leaving BMW without a two-seater model for the first time in more than twenty years. This represents a significant shift within the brand’s offerings. However, this departure doesn’t necessarily signal the end of BMW’s convertible sports car heritage.
As reported by Telegrafi, the situation remains fluid. During a recent event held in Munich, Germany, Bernd Koerber, the senior management executive and BMW brand and product director, addressed questions regarding the company’s future. Specifically, Koerber responded to inquiries about the potential for BMW to develop an electric sports car mirroring the Z4’s design.
The question of an iZ4 was posed, and his reply indicated a continued consideration. “In the evolution of things, yes,” he stated. “Not that we will announce something tomorrow, but BMW will always consider sports cars, yes, and that electric cars are part of that.”
This suggests that BMW remains open to exploring innovative approaches within its sports car segment, particularly with the integration of electric technology.
The brand’s commitment to performance and design continues to be a driving force.
