Bank of Albania: Foreign tourists spent 1 billion euros in 3 months

Tourism is anticipated to continue serving as a primary driver for the economy of Albania throughout the current year, both in terms of visitor volume and the associated economic revenue. Recent data from the Bank of Albania’s payments balance indicates that foreign tourists spent over one billion euros in the country during the first quarter alone. When comparing this period to the first quarter of 2025, tourism revenue showed an increase of approximately 14.8%.

Furthermore, the growth when benchmarked against 2024 was even more substantial, reaching 27%. According to official figures from the Central Bank, the net balance generated by tourism remained positive at 362.9 million euros. This figure represents an increase of nearly 23% compared to the first quarter of 2025.

These figures suggest a robust performance for the sector during the opening months of the year, positioning tourism as a significant contributor to national finances. The sustained inflow of foreign currency and expenditure by international visitors underscores the sector’s importance to Albania’s economic stability. The consistent growth reported by the bank highlights the strong demand for travel and services within the country, suggesting a positive outlook for the remainder of the year for tourists and the local economy.
