Mercedes-Benz has expanded the European availability of its GLC line following the unveiling of the GLC 400 4MATIC with EQ Technology last autumn. The brand is now introducing two additional, more accessible variants into the model’s lineup. The entry-level option, the GLC 250 Electric, is priced at €64,736 in Germany, representing a notable reduction of €6,545 compared to the premium top-tier model.
While this pricing adjustment offers significant savings for consumers, it requires certain technical compromises. The GLC 250 Electric is equipped with an 85 kWh battery and utilizes a single rear-mounted motor. This powertrain generates 349 kf (260 kW / 354 PS) of power and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque.
Performance metrics indicate the crossover can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, reaching a maximum velocity of 210 km/h. The vehicle’s operational characteristics, including its estimated driving range, are a key consideration for prospective buyers. While the model delivers respectable acceleration figures, the overall range capability is less extensive compared to higher-spec versions.
This expansion allows Mercedes to broaden the appeal of the GLC by offering a more budget-conscious alternative while maintaining core elements of the brand’s luxury SUV experience.
