Hysri Selimi convicted of espionage following cooperation between the AK Party, Police, and Prosecutor’s Office

The Basic Court in Pristina has sentenced Hysri Selimi to six years in prison, finding him guilty of espionage activities conducted on behalf of the Serbian Intelligence and Security Agency (BIA). The verdict was delivered by a panel of judges chaired by Judge Leon Përlaska. Hysri Selimi, who has a prior conviction for participation in a terrorist organization, was not present in the courtroom when the sentencing was read.

According to the indictment presented during the trial, Selimi allegedly maintained a collaboration with the Serbian BIA spanning from October 2009 until his arrest on May 6, 2025. During this period, the court found that he was responsible for collecting and transmitting sensitive information pertaining to the security and state interests of Kosovo. Beyond espionage, the charges detailed that Selimi also acted under the direction of the BIA to incite Albanian citizens to join the Islamic State (ISIS).

The revelation of these activities reportedly resulted from intelligence gathering efforts. The sentencing marks a significant legal outcome concerning allegations of state-sponsored intelligence work and radicalization efforts within the region. The court’s decision formally convicts Selimi on these charges, establishing a clear record of his alleged involvement in destabilizing activities.
