Porsche has announced the discontinuation of two models as the updated Taycan electric is slated for release in 2027. The models affected by the production halt are the Taycan Sport Turismo and the Taycan Cross Turismo. The decision comes amid shifting sales trends for the electric vehicle.
While Taycan sales reached a peak in the United States in 2023, where Porsche sold 7,570 electric vehicles, subsequent figures indicate a decline. For instance, Porsche reported Taycan sales of 4,747 units in 2024, compared to 4,142 units sold in 2025. Furthermore, year-to-date figures reflect this downward trend.
In the first three months of the current year, Porsche sold 607 vehicles, which is notably lower than the 1,019 units recorded during the same three-month period in 2025. These adjustments suggest a strategic realignment for the Porsche brand concerning its electric lineup as it prepares for the next generation Taycan. The discontinuation of the Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo models signals a change in the current portfolio while the company anticipates the market reception of its updated electric vehicle platform.

A shame about the Sport and Cross Turismo; those body styles were really popular.
