LSH: Healthcare needs concrete reforms, not just projects on paper

The Albanian Association views the Government’s announcement concerning the establishment of a Rapid Aid Center in Skopje as a positive development. However, the association concurrently highlighted that the current health situation indicates a deficit in tangible reforms. Citing the report titled “Compass of Promises,” which was prepared by Finance Think in collaboration with the Macedonian Doctors’ Association and the Youth Education Forum, the association emphasized the significant gap between stated goals and actual implementation.

According to the report, only 13 percent of the promised initiatives within the health sector have been realized. Furthermore, a substantial 71 percent of the proposed reforms have yet to commence implementation. While acknowledging the value of any initiative aimed at preserving life, such as the proposed Rapid Aid Center, the Albanian Association stressed that immediate action must be accompanied by systemic changes.

The focus, according to the group, needs to shift from announcing new facilities to ensuring that existing promises translate into concrete, actionable reforms across the entire healthcare system. The association’s statement suggests that while the new center is welcomed, it does not resolve the underlying structural deficiencies highlighted by the detailed analysis.

  1. It’s encouraging to see new facilities planned, but the focus really needs to be on systemic reforms rather than just physical projects.
