VLEN: 24 years in power were not enough for the sewage system in Zajaz

The VLEN coalition has formally accused the BDI party and its leader, Ali Ahmeti, of inadequate implementation of the necessary sewage system project in Zajaz and Kërçovë. The allegations suggest potential misuse of public funds and point to connections between the project and companies reportedly linked to the Ahmeti family. During a press conference, Faton Fazliu, representing VLEN, stated that despite the BDI maintaining control over key institutions for an estimated 24 years, the fundamental issue of establishing a functional sewage network in Zajaz remains unresolved.

According to VLEN officials, residents currently face conditions marked by incomplete infrastructure, open canals, and reliance on septic pits. Furthermore, the coalition highlighted that the state has reportedly sustained millions in damages and lost access to European Union funding due to these systemic failures. VLEN also drew attention to information circulating regarding criminal charges that have been filed by the Police related to these matters.

The coalition’s statements frame the sewage deficiency in Zajaz as a persistent failure of governance. The accusations center on accountability for the prolonged delay in developing essential public utilities, specifically the sewage infrastructure, which VLEN argues has detrimentally affected the daily lives of Zajaz residents and the state’s financial standing. The dispute underscores a major political disagreement regarding infrastructure development and financial oversight within the region.
