The acting Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning, and Infrastructure, Fitore Pacolli-Dalipi, has announced the commencement of official waste acceptance services for the public. This initiative directs citizens to four designated sanitary landfills managed by the Kosovo Landfill Management Company (KMDK). According to the Minister’s statement, residents can now legally and safely dispose of household waste at the facilities located in Mirash, Landovicë, Velekincë, and Dumnicë.
Pacolli-Dalipi confirmed that the operational readiness of these sites marks a significant step in waste management infrastructure within the region. The primary objective of establishing these formal collection points is to provide a regulated and sustainable alternative for the public. By directing waste streams to these managed facilities, authorities aim to curb the practice of illegal dumping in unauthorized areas.
The Minister emphasized that establishing these legal disposal sites ensures that the handling of municipal solid waste adheres to established environmental protocols, thereby protecting public health and the local environment. This development is intended to streamline waste management processes, offering a reliable system for both the community and environmental oversight bodies. The availability of these four dedicated sanitary sites is crucial for improving compliance rates and reducing the ecological impact associated with improper waste disposal by citizens.
