Albanian students in North Macedonia are reportedly considering renewed protests if their demand for the jurisprudence exam to be conducted in the Albanian language is not met. Additionally, the Public Defender’s Office in the southern neighborhood of Kosovo is also pursuing the goal of holding these examinations in Albanian. Faton Selami stated that he formally petitioned the Government in Skopje to harmonize the laws governing the administration of the jurisprudence exam, aiming to allow Albanian students to take the tests in their native Albanian language.
According to information provided to KosovoPress, Selami received confirmation that an expert working group has been established. This group is currently reviewing the legal feasibility of developing a proposal to resolve the issue. Selami acknowledged the significance of this matter for the affected students.
The ongoing efforts reflect a sustained push by various stakeholders to ensure that the examination process for jurisprudence is accessible to Albanian students in a language they are proficient in. The outcome of the expert group’s review is anticipated as it will determine the next steps toward potential legislative changes.
