Clash in the Mitrovica Parliament, Begu addresses Brahimi with the word “injorant”

During a session of the Mitrovica Communal Council, PDK assemblyman Valon Brahimi raised concerns regarding the Education Directorate’s perceived lack of reporting on the shortage of teaching staff within the municipality’s schools. The discussion surrounding this issue escalated into a verbal confrontation between Brahimi and the Director of Education, Shefki Begu. The tension increased when Begu addressed Brahimi using the term “injorant,” an exchange that reportedly heightened the atmosphere within the council hall.

In response to the remark, Brahimi demanded a formal apology from Begu. He issued a warning that, without an apology, PDK assemblymen would withdraw from the ongoing meeting. The debate broadened beyond staffing issues, touching upon the participation of community members.

Brahimi also highlighted that not all individuals who have contributed to the development of Mitrovica and Kosovo were present during the recent anniversary commemoration of the “Frang Bardhi” Gymnasium. The exchange between Brahimi and Begu underscored significant disagreements over administrative accountability and community representation within Mitrovica. The council session thus became a platform for airing grievances concerning educational resources and civic participation, culminating in a public disagreement between key council figures.
