Number of interventions from Rapid Aid increases in Tetovë

Due to elevated temperatures, the volume of emergency interventions in Tetovë has seen a significant rise, exceeding a 50 percent increase. The most frequently encountered cases involve individuals managing chronic heart or respiratory tract conditions. However, the emergency services are also responding to instances where people lose consciousness while exerting themselves in high heat, alongside numerous injuries sustained by motorcyclists traversing mountainous terrain.

Igor Mlladenovski, Head of Emergency Services, noted that the spike in calls is particularly pronounced during weekends when residents engage in leisure activities. He attributed this surge to increased movement in the heat, accidents involving motorcycles in the mountains, and cases of overexertion. Mlladenovski stated that the overall increase in the number of calls has risen by approximately 40 to 50 percent.

He emphasized that preventative measures are crucial, advising the public to exercise extreme caution. Specific warnings were issued to vulnerable groups, including the elderly, particularly those over 60 years of age, and anyone managing chronic heart or blood pressure diseases. The sustained high temperatures are directly impacting the health and safety of people across the region, necessitating heightened awareness regarding heat-related risks and outdoor activity management.
