Themelorja will set up on January 1st to stop at Gazimestan

In a recent legal development in Pristina, individuals accused of causing disturbances and endangering public order were initially declared innocent, with the final decision regarding their case scheduled for January 1st. Separately, on June 28th, during the commemoration of Vidovdan at Gazimestan, near Pristina, Kosovo Police intervened, detaining 37 people. Authorities cited the detentions as a response to individuals who allegedly “provoked the crowd by chanting provocative slogans with elements of inciting hatred.” Following this incident, one person received a fine, while the remaining 36 individuals were processed by the court but were not held in custody.

Legal counsel Nikola Todorović reported that the accused had their personal identification documents confiscated. He noted that a significant portion of those detained were Serbian citizens, both from Serbia and the surrounding region, adding concern that several foreign nationals might face difficulties returning to their residences. The contrasting events highlight ongoing tensions in the region.

The legal proceedings mentioned took place before the recent unrest, providing a backdrop to the subsequent police action. The initial judicial declaration, which cleared the accused pending a ruling in january, contrasts with the physical detentions that occurred at Gazimestan. The reports detail instances where legal status and public order management intersect, requiring judicial oversight and police intervention in the area before final determinations can be made.
