Government: Vuçiq is encouraging attacks against police with statements about Radoiçi

The current government of Kosovo has criticized Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić following statements suggesting that Milan Rađičić is not facing charges for any crime. Kosovo officials argue that Vučić’s declaration amounts to encouragement for actions hostile to the country’s security forces. According to Arlindo Manxhuku, the executive spokesperson, Vučić’s remarks suggest that the Serbian state controls its justice system and implies that any attacks against Kosovo police officers do not constitute crimes under Serbian law, or are tacitly supported by the head of state.

Earlier this week, Vučić stated that Rađičić—an individual who reportedly took responsibility for the 2023 attack against Kosovo Police in Banjska and against whom Interpol issued a red notice—is not being prosecuted for any criminal offense. Vučić further asserted that the red notice was issued not due to a crime, but because of Kosovo itself. Kosovo maintains that these statements are inflammatory.

The government views the comments as undermining the rule of law and potentially inciting further violence. The core concern articulated by Kosovo authorities is the perceived endorsement of actions directed against its law enforcement. They argue that minimizing the gravity of violence directed against police personnel sends a dangerous message regarding accountability for such attacks.

The statements have heightened diplomatic tensions between Belgrade and Pristina over issues of security and criminal jurisdiction.
