The dog was rescued after its head was stuck in a bottle.

Animal rescuers in Scotland recently provided assistance to a hedgehog that had been wandering for at least two days with its head ensnared inside a plastic bottle. According to the Scottish SPCA, an animal rescue team was dispatched to a neighborhood in Glasgow following a report regarding the animal’s difficult condition. Initial efforts to approach the distressed hedgehog proved challenging.

When the rescuers attempted to reach the trapped creature, the hedgehog retreated to its sett. The rescue team subsequently returned for a second attempt. The SPCA noted that after a period of searching and several unsuccessful attempts to locate the animal, the team grew concerned that the hedgehog was lost.

Several hours later, the animal reappeared, emerging from its sett with the plastic bottle still trapping its head. The rescuers successfully removed the object. Following the extraction, the hedgehog was transported to the University of Glasgow Small Animal Hospital for necessary treatment of a neck wound sustained from the confinement.

The incident highlighted the ongoing dangers wildlife face from human debris. The veterinary care provided to the hedgehog was crucial for addressing the injury caused by the bottle. The successful recovery demonstrates the dedication of local animal rescue teams in mitigating risks to local wildlife.
